# Updating Scripts

Update a Snappy script without losing your settings.

### Read the update notes

Check the script's docs and the announcement in [Discord](https://discord.com/invite/qnGMgPBzqe) for anything you need to change. Big updates have their own upgrade guide, such as [Phone → Upgrading](/documentation/paid-scripts/phone/upgrading.md).

### Back up

Copy your current resource folder somewhere safe, and back up your database.

### Replace the resource

Download the new version from [Keymaster](https://keymaster.fivem.net/). **Delete** the old folder and add the new one, rather than copying files over the old ones, so no old files are left behind.

### Re-apply your config

Copy your settings back into the new config files by hand. New versions often add options, so don't replace whole config files with your old ones.

### Restart

Fully restart your server, not just the resource.
